Description

Corey Anco serves as Willis McDonald IV Curator of Natural Science at the Draper Natural History Museum. Anco joined the Draper in 2017 as Assistant Curator, building on experience with the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Geological Survey, and National Geographic Society’s Big Cats Initiative. A Certified Interpretive Guide through the National Association for Interpretation, Anco taught ecology and science communication to youth, high school, and university students. He earned a B.S. from Lewis University, an M.E.M. from Duke University, and an M.S. in Biology from Fordham University. Anco got into birding recently and out of a curiosity of the natural world. Anco is part of a larger team of researchers studying the Pinyon Jay in Wyoming’s Bighorn Basin.

CJ Grimes has been birding for over 30 years. As a former park ranger, he led bird programs in several of our national parks including Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Everglades and Zion. He has also worked in the field of fire ecology for the National Park Service, US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management. As an avian field technician CJ has conducted bird surveys in several habitats and states and continues to work on sage-grouse, raptor and songbird surveys in Wyoming as a consultant. Since 2024, CJ  has served on the Wyoming Bird Records Committee. He moved to Ten Sleep in 2008, where he lives with his wife Sarah and daughter Emmi.
